Life as we should know it

Life as we should know it

Breathtaking Photography

Kirsty Mitchell’s late mother Maureen was an English teacher who inspired generations of children with imaginative stories and plays. Following Maureen’s death from a brain tumour in 2008, Kirsty channelled her grief into her passion for photography. She retreated herself behind the camera and expressed her feelings of sadness and loneliness, through photography.

Today, I share with you, some of the most beautiful pictures I’ve ever seen. These breathtaking work of arts, have been inspired by “Alice in Wonderland” and ethereal fantasy world. Here I take you through her journey…

Letter from the MP

One in three girls around the world is denied an education by the daily realities of poverty, conflict and discrimination. As you may know, I strongly believe in Human Rights, especially regarding girls all over the world, as there are more girls suffering because some silly people believe that we are inferior and have no voices to speak up, and that we are oppressed, and should stay home instead of going to school, but I am strongly AGAINST this, and believe every girl is entitled to an education as it is a part of her human rights, and that we should all be doing our best to ensure we are supporting this movement because it’s the right thing to do… How would you feel if your daughter was not given the right to learn, simply because she was a girl? Girls are given off to marry strangers which increase the risk of abuse, and isolation…in some places in the world, a girl is too old if she gets married by the age of 15!

So there is this wonderful organisation called Plan- Because I am a Girl, that are helping ensure that girls in Low economically developed countries are given the right to an education, because they see potential in them. They believe that girl’s hold the power to break the cycle of poverty, with education, skills and support, girl’s would be able to make the right choices and live a normal, happy life.

Did you know that an education girl is:

  • less likely to marry and to have children whilst she is still a child.
  • more likely to be literate, healthy and survive into adulthood, as are her children.
  • more likely to reinvest her income back into her family, community and country.

Now for the exciting news…back in December, I sent a letter supporting plan to a member of parliament, asking her if she would be interested in helping me lead this organisation and make a change in many girl’s lives, and she replied three weeks ago, saying YES! She said and I quote that she will be writing to the Secretary of State for International Development on my behalf and asking him to announce how many girls the Department for International Development plan will be supporting to complete nine years of basic education by the end of 2014. She also said this is a big priority and she will get back to me as soon as possible!!!

I was flying when I found out she replied to me…see this shows you that no matter who you are, you could be making a change, if only you do simple things, like saving money for the charity, and donating, raising awareness, or just informing other people on these things. 😀 😀 😀

I think by now, everyone knows that Palestine and Israel have been in War ever since 1948 when the land of Palestine was taken away from them forcefully, and unjustly. This as anyone would agree is morally wrong and unjust. But at the end of the day, the whole issue is a really big matter, that I, myself cannot resolve, but pray to God that one day, the two countries will be at peace together, for “Love is stronger than segregation and discrimination”

I strongly advise everyone to support the Palestine Children’s Relief Funds as they are doing an amazing job in helping the children of Palestine, regain their life and future, and are giving more people the chance to live, the chance to have an education and the chance to find freedom every single day. The PCRF has worked hard to provide many sick and injured Arab children in the Middle East with specialized medical care that is not available locally. The PCRF not only accomplishes this by sending teams of surgeons to treat children locally, but by also arranging cost-free treatment for them abroad.

Not many people realize this, but the fear and pain that the children and people of Palestine are enduring is terrible and is the same issue that is going on in Uganda. Be the voice for these children. I know some people may think I am crazy, for talking about resolving two issues at once, but I believe if you believe, you’ll achieve. I’m a Believer.

SO Please, help promote equality and peace, by supporting Palestine. Remember “If you can’t feed a hundred people, then feed just one”

Live Life In Happiness

Lets face it, not all people are happy in their lives! Why? Because of factors slowing them down like bills, insecurities, and many other problems in their lives that they are constantly worrying about. I used to be living this way, obviously bills weren’t slowing me down because I’m living with my parents, however one of the major factors in my life that were slowing me down were things like school, grades, and insecurities.

If for example, I was to get a low grade, I would constantly worry about it, and ask my teacher repeatedly how I can improve it, not realizing that if I carry on worrying, I’m totally missing living in the moment and by worrying, i’m not actually making things better, but making them worse, for myself. A lot of things in my life have changed, after realizing that happiness was the way! Negativeness just went out the door for me when I started changing my thoughts and feelings on things. Surprisingly next time I got a low grade, I accepted it, and worked towards getting a better grade, and…. TADA my grades went up.

Most religions would agree that happiness starts from within. If you’re not happy with your self and if you don’t accept yourself, as you are, then you can never lead a happy life. Oscar Wilde once said, “Be yourself, everyone else it taken” and I couldn’t of agreed any more. This quote simply means, you have to accept yourself because if you spend life worrying about being the “prettiest” or being “perfect” then you will NOT find satisfaction.

So I hope from today, you change your thoughts and feelings towards yourself, and watch your life change in a blink of an eye. “Happiness is like a butterfly; the more you chase it, the more it will elude you, but if you turn your attention to other things, it will come and sit softly on your shoulder”

A Mother Is A God Given Gift

“A mother’s love for her child is like nothing else in the world. It knows no law, no pity. It dares all things and crushes down remorselessly all that stands in its path”

Today, I think most people in society would agree that they don’t appreciate their mothers enough.

To me, a mother is a precious gift, given by God. And unless you’re really fond of that gift, and take absolute care of it, then there’s not point of living. My mother has been my sister, friend, aunt and so many more things…she’s an amazing person that is a massive part of my life, and I pray for her to be with me a very long time.

What annoys me, is when girl’s talk to me about how much they think their mum is annoying them, and how they wish she’d stop asking them to do things blah blah blah. Well I’m one to say, stop the moaning, and seriously start thanking God for your mother. She’s fed you from her blood and her milk and has stayed up with you in your young days, and no one will ever take her place.

There are some unfortunate people our there with no mothers, and no fathers. They’re the ones who actually realize how amazing the gift of a mother is and seriously if you don’t wake up today, and realize how important a mother is…one day your mother and father are going to be gone, and then you’ll realize.

So right now, go give your mother the biggest hug and tell her how much she means to you, because she’s amazing ❤

Life is all about, living, laughing and hoping for the best.

Pray to God and ask for whatever it is you want, thank God, and continue praying.

Be grateful for whatever it is you have because remember that there are people in the world with nothing compared to what you have, and just hope for the best….the future is in your hands.

Remember, whatever it is you want, you will get it, with the power of God and positiveness.

Life, is a wonderful experience….Make sure you live it to the fullest because at the end of the day, you live once! 😀
